Chester and District Walking Group is a friendly group of people from Chester, Wirral and North Wales who enjoy walking, socialising and weekends away.
We offer a variety of events throughout the year and our main activities include weekend walks in Cheshire, Shropshire, North Wales and the Wirral as well as weekly summer evening walks, monthly socials and regular weekend trips away to places further afield, including the Lake District, Peak District, Scotland, Ireland and even France.
Our walking programme is published every quarter and our walks are star-graded to ensure there is always a suitable walk for everyone!
We currently have over sixty walking group members, with a healthy age range of early 20s through to early 60s. Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome and you are encouraged to come along for two or three walks or other events before deciding to join the group.
Chester and District Walking Group was formerly known as ‘Chester YHA Walking Group’ prior to a name-change in 2007. The group was founded in the 1980s although it has been suggested that our walk origins go back as far as the 1940s and 50s.
We are proudly affiliated to the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) and as an enthusiastic walking group, we have always tried to remember that the most important thing about walking is enjoyment!
